75 Years of Tinker AFB

Call the fire department, because Tinker turns 75 this year and that's a lot of birthday candles! As a way to celebrate, Tinker has scheduled a year of events that correlate with the anniversary. Some events have already happened (like the Half Marathon or Star Spangled Salute Air Show) but there are still a few to come!

One happening this very month is the 75th Anniversary Golf Tournament. The tournament will take place on June 23 at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., with lunch falling in between the two tee times at 11 a.m. The format is four-person scramble (or sunny side up if that's not your thing haha). Cost is $75 and includes your green fee/cart, lunch, 2 commemorative golf towels, a commemorative golf ball, and a commemorative golf tag (try saying that three times fast). Want S'More FSS? Think the Great Campout!

It's been a while but we're back in style! Apologies that it has been a while since our last post, but things have been crazy busy here lately with all of the amazing things happening on Tinker Air Force Base! So let's recap, we just finished up with the 2017 Star Spangled Salute Air Show. Being associated with the Air Force means you occasionally see a plane or two (haha), but on May 20 & 21, some not so average planes took the stage. They zipped through the sky and nailed death defying stunts as masses of (sunburnt) people cheered and snapped pictures. It was an absolutely stunning display for all Oklahomans.

Now if you missed this event there is no need to fret! FSS has a lot planned for the upcoming summer months. The first of which is going to be the Great Campout! It's going to be "in tents!" Get it, like intense but camping. Anyway, you'll want to bring your tent, swimsuit, and sense of wonder for the great outdoors. There will be a pool party/dive-in movie, campfire, kids activities, and so much s'more! (:D) The event will take place on June 9 starting at 4:30 p.m. at the ALS Soccer Fields. No tent? No Problem. FSS is Getting 'Egg'stravagant

This post is going to be 'egg'cellent, 'egg'stravgant, 'egg'citing, and 'egg'stra special! In case you couldn't guess from the opening puns, this post is all about the 2017 Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt! That's right folks, the Easter Bunny is coming to Tinker, and this isn't just some run of the mill town mall Easter Bunny, this is the real deal!

On April 15, the Easter Bunny will be at the Base Soccer Fields (located behind the Iszard Pool with thousands of eggs for children of all ages to hunt. The eggs will be stuffed full of candy and even a few surprises. The fields will be divided into several age groups, toddler through teens. The Eggstravaganza is a free event (actually it costs one smile) and is open to everyone with base access. As if thousands of goodie filled eggs wasn't enough of an incentive, there will also be lovely sponsors at the event giving out lots of free stuff. The sponsor's area will include TFCU, Freddy's Frozen Custard, Cane's, and Your Pie! That's a lot of deliciousness in one area.

So don't miss out on this 'egg'tremely fun event! It's the perfect way to get Easter ready with all of the kiddos. The hunt will begin promptly at 12 p.m. If you need more information, go to http://tinkerliving.com/youth/.

Spring Break 2017 #TinkerGoesWild

Spring Break is coming to Tinker March 13-17! Spring Break for some looks like a montage of college kids slow motion dancing to some DJ with foam going everywhere. Well Tinker is here to tell you not to fear! The only montage you'll be seeing this Spring Break is children laughing and smiling while they run around with armfuls of free stuff!

Kicking off the week is the Spring Break Movie Marathon at the Tinker Auditorium. All week, the theatre will be featuring the latest and greatest films for children and teens. Come have hug time with Trolls, discover the Legend of Tarzan, or even save the islands with Moana! All movies will have popcorn and drinks available to all moviegoers. What could make this movie marathon better? How about free giveaways before each showing! 

But wait there's more (said in Billy Mays voice)! Some of our favorite facilities wanted to party like it's 2017 too, so they are offering up some great specials. You can get your #selfie fix with a free selfie stick at Arts & Crafts with a kid's class purchase. Perhaps you're wanting something a little more 'striking'? Come to Tinker Lanes to get a $3 kid's pizza meal and receive a free souvenir cup. Then bounce on over to Outdoor Rec for their 20% off moonwalks discounts. The FSS facilities are definitely going wild with these deals!

And the Winner Is...

Yes, for those that didn't watch the 2017 Oscars, it was like Steve Harvey Deja Vu! The winner was announced, the awards were handed out, speeches were started, and then the actual winner was announced. It was a shocking moment that was witnessed all across the nation. Those darn envelopes love to sabotage big nights!

Well we are proud to announce that the 2017 winner for the most fun you can have on Tinker, is FSS! (we didn't even have to pull it out of an envelope, so you know it's real)

You heard it guys, FSS is your 2017 winner for the most fun you can have on Tinker. To prove it, FSS has planned a fun filled week. Thursday will feature Free Art Night at Arts & Crafts with First Friday following at the Tinker Club on Friday. Then stop by Tinker Lanes with the whole family this Saturday for ColorRama! Come experience the facilities that critics are raving about.

This is the Month That Never Ends...Or Does It? Read On To Find Out!

Is January starting to feel like the month that will never end? Starting to feel a lot like it's Groundhog Day? Well don't worry, FSS made a few phone calls and we are making February happen! [insert happy dance here]

Unfortunately, we had to haggle and compromise so it won't actually start until Wednesday (sorry). Don't stress though because FSS has already packed some pretty awesome stuff into next week in celebration of the new month, like First Friday and the Big Game Watch Party. Come to the Tinker Club on 3 Feb 2017 starting at 4 p.m. for the most fun you will ever have on a Friday night! There's free food, drink specials, free food, a crazy CRUD tournament, and did I mention the free food? As an added bonus, America's Wing Band will be performing! This is your chance to rock your socks off to Tinker's very own. Then, take Saturday to recover from your craziness and get right back to it 5 Feb 2017 at the Tinker Club with the Big Game Watch Party! Are you a Patriot or a Falcon? Bring your team spirit as the two teams battle it out to be the best. You could also win prizes. There's also going to be this really awesome chip dip that...oh right right, the prizes. Yeah, you can win awesome prizes just for being there! How cool?! There will also be a chili contest with judging starting at 5 p.m. It may be 'chili' but the competition is sure to heat up this fun event. All of the fun and festivities will start at 3 p.m. See you all in February!
